On Saturday, June 7, beginning at 9am and concluding around noon, the Brisbane Office of Emergency Services and North County Fire Authority will conduct the annual Community Wildfire Awareness Event. This year's event appropriately takes place on Disaster Preparedness Day, being held from 10am - 2pm at the San Mateo County Event Center (in conjunction with the County Fair).
With the 10 major fires in San Diego County this past week, we are reminded that we need to always Be Ready for a disaster. The Wildfire Awareness Event, in addition to wildland fire awareness, provides community outreach and public education regarding wildland fire preparedness and planning. As part of community outreach, important information will be provided by fire companies to those residents living on Margaret and Paul Avenues and Kings Rd. (from the 100 block through the 300 block) so expect a knock on your door, as firefighters will be delivering information to these homes which are adjacent to a Wildland Urban Interface area. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Brisbane Office of Emergency Services at (415) 508-2131 or the North County Fire Authority Prevention Services Bureau at (650) 991-8138.
