Recently, the City has been taking advantage of rebates through San Mateo County Energy Watch to upgrade its facilities' site lighting to energy-saving, LED bulbs. You may have noticed that this was done at the Fire Station and Mission Blue Center, and now the same has been done at the Community Pool. Programming for the lights at the Pool have also been adjusted, so that only a few lights stay on at night for security reasons. The Community Park site lighting (including the decorative lamps and Gazebo bollards) will be upgraded to LEDs in the coming weeks. See if you can spot the difference!

A total of $7,514.25 has been raised by the Community through t-shirt sales, the Downtown Brisbane Car Show (which is back for a 3rd consecutive year on July 11, 2015), and other private donations. At their meeting on May 7, 2015, the City Council stated their support for the Community to raise a total of $36,000 to cover the extra features not included in the Skatepark’s Approved Concept Plan, such as a water fountain and its connection to the water main, landscaping and seating, more aesthetic fencing, and additional lighting. Taking into account the already-raised $7,514.25, the Mothers of Brisbane, who are spearheading the fundraising efforts, are estimating that the Community can raise another $12,500 through brick sales to arrive at $20,000 in cash donations. The remaining $16,000 they’re estimating will be met through in-kind donations such as asking for volunteers to assist with demolition of the current Skatepark, grading, drainage, and getting the water fountain installed. So please reserve your brick by August 1, 2015 (final day forms & payment will be accepted is Monday, August 3rd), which will be showcased at the Skatepark within the sidewalk just outside the park’s entrance. Thank you for your continued support of the Skatepark, which is scheduled to break ground this Fall!
Commit to a Brick Donor Form. Please bring to City Hall (Finance Dept.) with a check made out to the City of Brisbane.
In addition, look out for these coin/dollar collection jugs around town! There are forms to "Commit to a Brick" there but you would need to mail or drop off at City Hall.
This one is located in our amazing Brisbane Hardware Shop! Every little bit counts!

Peninsula SunShares is nearing its July 31st registration deadline and the City of Brisbane would like to encourage community members to sign up to find out if solar could be a good fit for your home.
The program launched in April and over the last four months more than 715 homeowners have enrolled. To date there are 100 projects being installed throughout the Bay Area totaling 440 kilowatts of reliable solar power. If you're curious where Brisbane stands, 25 homes have registered for the program and 8 systems have already been installed or are pending installation! The final deadline to take advantage of the program’s reduced pricing is the end of August when all contracts must be signed.
Together, we’re creating a planet run by the sun - faster!
Installing solar not only helps to support local greenhouse gas reduction and air quality goals that the City of Brisbane is working to achieve, but also helps you lock in low electricity rates for the next 20 years. Sounds pretty good, right? No wonder solar is the fastest growing source of energy in the U.S.
The City of Brisbane is participating in Peninsula SunShares with neighboring communities to pool the power of our community to get more competitive pricing from solar companies, while reducing the complexity of going solar.
If you live in the greater Bay Area and are a homeowner, you are eligible to participate. Learn more by visiting the program website: http://www.mygroupenergy.com/peninsula
- Sign up to receive a no-cost proposal from one of the program’s pre-selected contractors by July 31st.
- If you decide to move forward with your solar installation, sign your contract by August 31st to take advantage of federal tax credits that expire soon and the discounted program pricing.
- Help spread the word! More participants mean a better deal for you and more reliable solar power for our community.
