Join the City Council on Thursday, September 1 at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall as they continue their discussion of the three preliminary Parkside Concept Alternatives! City consultants MIG presented the three Alternatives at the June 2, 2016 City Council meeting, which illustrate different land use scenarios for the Parkside Plan Area. The Alternatives are available on the Parkside Plan Documents page. After the Council received public comments on the Alternatives, the Council continued their discussion to a future meeting to provide additional time for review. Click here to see video of the Council’s June 2 Parkside discussion on YouTube.
To aid the review process at the 9/1 Council meeting, MIG will present several photosimulations and renderings to help better envision the pedestrian environment and visual impacts of the different land use Alternatives. These photosimulations will be included with the agenda report for the September 1 meeting, which will be available on the City website and at the Community Development Department at City Hall by Friday, August 26.

Thanks to the efforts of Clara Johnson, former Brisbane Mayor, and Carole Nelson, former Community Development Director, the Large Conference Room at City Hall now serves not only as the main meeting location for city business, but also as an art gallery. Right now, a collection of beautifully painted pieces by Michael Rodman and his students are on display. We invite you all to join us at the reception on Wednesday, August 31st from 6-8pm to admire this wonderful work. View our Art Shows at City Hall Page
“Community Call for Photos!”
Did you know? This year marks the 30th Annual Day in the Park and the 10th Annual Derby. Given the commemorative nature of this year’s event, City Staff is hoping to incorporate a “Walk Down Memory Lane” photo showcase chronicling the history of the event over the past 30 years. But… we need your help! If you have images capturing the spirit of the Day in the Park (originally dubbed the Family Festival) over the past 30 years, we want to share them! We encourage you to either email past photos of the event to email@example.com or to bring them by the Parks & Recreation office at City Hall before September 9th. The more information you can provide us about your photos (names of those pictured, year photo was taken, etc.) the better! We want to celebrate Brisbane’s traditions by incorporating a nod to the history of the event over the past three decades and we hope you’ll assist us in doing so!

Bay Area Cities Launch Group Solar and Electric Vehicle Buy Program to Lower Cost of Purchasing Solar and EVs for Local Residents
Brisbane, CA - The City of Brisbane is joining other nearby cities in an initiative called Bay Area SunShares, similar to last year’s program Peninsula SunShares, it’s an effort that will encourage many more Bay Area homeowners to go solar and fossil fuel free.
The Bay Area SunShares program allows local residents to pool their purchasing power and receive bulk discounts for installing solar systems, and receive a discount on select electric vehicles. Free community workshops, beginning in August, will be held in different venues over the next three months to explain the program and help people enroll in Bay Area SunShares. Brisbane's workshop takes place on: Wednesday, August 31 from 5:30 - 6:30pm and Saturday, October 8 from 10am – 11am in the Community Meeting room at City Hall (50 Park Place) Register for a workshop here.
The 2016 Bay Area SunShares program is available for homeowners living in the City of Brisbane or those working in participating communities but living throughout the nine Bay Area counties. Multiple financing options are being offered including direct purchase, leasing, power purchase agreements and Property Assessed Clean Energy financing.
Qualified property owners will receive a free site evaluation to determine the suitability of their property. If their site is suitable, they will receive a no obligation proposal and can install a system at substantial cost savings from three local solar installers: Sunrun, Inc. Skytech Solar and Solar 4 America Petersen Dean were selected by the Bay Area SunShares community evaluation committee following a rigorous Request for Proposals process that vetted potential vendors. Two car dealers were also selected through this process: Nissan and Toyota. To take advantage of the volume discount, participants must sign a contract with one of the selected installers or purchase a vehicle by November 11, 2016.
At the free workshops, local experts will explain how solar and electric vehicles work and answer questions to help residents decide whether solar energy is right for their home and an electric vehicle is suitable for one’s vehicle needs. The workshops will also cover information about federal tax credits and financing options available that will help homeowners install solar and save on their utility bills for years to come.
Attending a workshop is not a requirement for participation in the program. Bay Area SunShares kicked off today, August 3rd, and interested homeowners can visit the program website to sign-up and view a list of scheduled events.
Similar SunShares programs have been launched throughout the Bay Area resulting in hundreds of new solar installations and more than 3.4 megawatts of residential solar capacity. The SunShares program is based on successful models developed by the cities of Portland and San Jose in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy. In just the past few years, successful campaigns have spread from Oregon and California across the country to Colorado, Illinois and New York.
Bay Area SunShares is being administered by the San Francisco Business Council on Climate Change (a fiscally sponsored project of the 501(c)3 organization, Community Initiatives), on behalf of a group of cities, counties, major employers, and membership organizations.
