Human Investment Project, or HIP Housing, is a non-profit, affordable housing organization in San Mateo County.  They offer a Home Sharing Program with the goal of matching persons seeking housing with those that have a room to rent within their home.  Check out their January 2017 housing flyers for seekers (partial list of persons seeking housing as of January 2017) and providers (partial list of rooms available as of January 2017).  Contact HIP Housing at (650) 348-6660 with any questions.  If you find a housemate through HIP Housing, 90 days later you receive $250!

Sustainability Academy Courses & Webinars

Registration is now open for two new Sustainability Academy offerings beginning in January, 2017!

The County of San Mateo’s Sustainability Academy (Academy) is a no-cost education and outreach program designed to raise awareness around sustainability and empower our San Mateo County community members with the knowledge and skills to promote resource conservation in their communities. The Academy courses are taught by local experts and offer participants access to cutting-edge sustainability information and best practices. Structure Fire at 34 Visitacion

Early this morning, at 6:23am, nine fire engines responded to an apartment building structure fire at 34 Visitacion Ave.  There were no sustained injuries to firefighters or residents, with the cause of the fire under investigation by the North County Fire Authority Prevention Services Bureau.  Read the full press release here.
