Shuttle Stop Relocation

Printer-friendly version

As part of the Safe Pedestrian Routes to School Plan created by the Complete Streets Safety Committee and approved by the City Council at their December 18, 2014 Council meeting, the Commute.org shuttle stop that was at the intersection of San Bruno & Santa Clara will be moved down the block to San Bruno to Alvarado.  This is to aid in reducing traffic congestion at the school during morning drop-offs, as the shuttle stop is in the midst of this area and school crossings at the crosswalk.  Thank you to the Committee for their work on this idea to relocate the shuttle stop and helping improve traffic for everyone's morning commute!  And lastly, if live or work in town and don't have a shuttle pass yet, then stop by the Finance Counter in City Hall and sign up for one!  It's free and a great alternative to getting in your car!

Gazebo To Get a Facelift

Printer-friendly version

Did you notice the Gazebo being washed on Thursday morning?  It now needs to dry a few more days before painting and staining can occur.  That should take about 3-4 days to complete once the contractor starts next week.  This work was approved by the City Council as part of their 2014-15 Budget and will serve to further enhance the Community Park.  Did you know that the Gazebo can be rented for private parties or community gatherings?  If you're interested in learning more, contact Tricia Vaccaro in the Parks and Recreation Department at 508-2140 and she will be happy to assist you!

Also, coaches are needed!

HVAC Replacement at Sta. 81

Printer-friendly version

If you happened to drive past the Fire Station this past Monday, you may have noticed a huge orange crane lifting and lowering three new HVAC units that were then installed over the course of the next few days.  Replacement of these HVAC units were approved by the City Council as part of their 14-15 Budget and meet new Title 24 Standards for increased building efficiency that went into effect statewide on July 1, 2014.  Lighting upgrades at the Fire Station took place back in July, so all capital improvement work at the Fire Station for FY 14-15 has now been completed.

Composting Has Arrived!

Printer-friendly version

Starting this month, Brisbane residents can put items like fruit and vegetable peels, leftovers, napkins and pizza boxes into the green cart, along with yard trimmings.  Now offering weekly green cart collection, South San Francisco Scavenger Company will convert the materials into transportation fuel and compost at their new anaerobic digestion facility.

Over the next two weeks, each household will receive a food scrap pail and detailed information about the new program, on their regular collection day.

To ensure that the anaerobic digestion process produces high quality fuel and compost, only food, food soiled paper and yard trimmings should go into the green cart.  Contaminants such as plastics, including plastic bags and “bio bags,” glass, metal or any other non-compostable materials interfere with the process and must be kept out of the green cart.  The food scrap collection allows residents to recycle a wide range of materials, including some that can’t be readily composted in backyard compost bins, such as meat, bones, paper plates and milk cartons.

Thanks for helping to do your part!
