Zipcar Car-Sharing Service

Printer-friendly version

UPDATE: November 3, 2015, 1:12pm - Zipcar was looking for at least a 35% utilization month over month during the pilot to keep the vehicles in town.  Unfortunately, we never got to that level.  Due to the low usage, they decided to discontinue the pilot program.

Have you noticed two white cars in the Park & Ride Lot?  Those are the new Zipcars, a car-sharing service .  The Open Space and Ecology Committee recommended the service to the Council, which they approved in November of 2013.

As an environmentally friendly transportation option, Zipcar will help to reduce Brisbane’s carbon footprint.  National studies have shown that average vehicle miles traveled per driver is reduced by 40% when car owners switch to car sharing.  Take advantage of these cars located right in central Brisbane by signing up at www.zipcar.com today!

Community Pipeline Safety Initiative

Printer-friendly version

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is working with customers and the City of Brisbane to help ensure safety crews have immediate access to natural gas transmission pipelines in case of an emergency.  This important gas safety work involves reviewing structures, trees and brush located near the gas pipeline that could block emergency access for first responders or damage the pipeline.  For any tree or structure that needs to be replaced for safety reasons, PG&E will work with the property owner to develop a plan that protects public safety while preserving the character and natural beauty of the community.

For more information on the planned gas safety work in Brisbane, please contact Emily Sloan, PG&E's local customer outreach specialist, at 1-650-737-2001 or emily.sloan@pge.com.  Additional information on the Community Pipeline Safety Initiative, as well as other PG&E gas safety efforts, can also be found at pge.com/GasSafety.

Recap of Parkside Pop-Up Event

Printer-friendly version

Thank you to all the community members who came to post their feedback on the various display boards this past Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Parkside Pop-Up Workshop.  The event took place on Old County Rd. in conjunction with the Lions' Flu Shot Clinic and Pumpkin Patch, both of which were successful in their own right (the Lions sold out of pumpkins and 169 people got their flu shot, the most ever)!  We had a great turnout and conversations with many people interested about the upcoming plan.  Special thanks to the City Council and all the staff, including Police, Fire, Public Works, Parks and Rec, and of course the Community Development Department in their planning with consultant MIG for the workshop.  We look forward to more opportunities to engage with the community about the Parkside area!  To receive e-mail updates about the Parkside Precise Plan, please sign up to be added to the Parkside at Brisbane Village e-mail distribution list if you haven't already done so.

To view more pictures from the Saturday's Pop-Up event, please click here.

Didn't get to attend the event but want to provide your feedback?  You can either fill out this double-sided comment card and return it to Julia Capasso in the Community Development Dept., or you can chime in online using the City's new electronic forum, called "Brisbane Town Hall".
