Technical Difficulties?

It doesn’t happen often, but in the case that you’re trying to tune in to a City Council, Planning Commission, Open Space & Ecology Committee, or Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting on Ch. 27 and you’re not getting proper audio or video, call 508-2129 as soon as possible.  A phone line has been dropped in to the Community Meeting Room for staff to receive calls from the public and address the issue in real-time (therefore, please note: this line does not have the ability to take messages).  You can also watch public meetings via the City’s Live Stream page: http://brisbaneca.org/live-streaming, where public meeting rebroadcast times on Ch. 27 can also be viewed.

Bullitt 45th Anniversary

Printer-friendly version

File:Burninrubber4.jpgUPDATE 6/21, 12:00pm: Tickets are now SOLD OUT.

Did you know that Brisbane was featured in the 1968 movie, "Bullitt", starring Steve McQueen?  And that there was an iconic chase sequence through San Francisco, which ended in Brisbane, with the cars racing down Guadalupe Canyon Parkway?  There was even a fiery crash into a gas station that was built just for this scene (and needed to be perfectly done in just one take!).  A 45th Anniversary event of the movie will be held in Brisbane on Friday, June 21st at Mission Blue Center from 4:00pm - 9:00pm.  The movie will NOT be shown at the event, but two documentary screenings, entitled, "Steve McQueen an American Rebel" and "Commitment to Reality" will be.  The cost for the event is $35 ($25 for Brisbane residents), with proceeds benefitting the Brisbane Skatepark Project.  Come and enjoy a BBQ dinner, beer & beverages, and a live band playing hits from none other than the 60s!  Steve McQueen's son, Chad McQueen, will be speaking.  To purchase your ticket(s), stop by the Brisbane Parks & Recreation Dept., located on the 2nd Fl. of City Hall - 50 Park Place, Brisbane.  For more information, please contact Recreation Supervisor Steve Beaty at (415) 508-2144 or sbeaty@ci.brisbane.ca.us.

2013 Concert Sponsors

Printer-friendly version

Nine out of the 25 sponsors were able to make it to the June 3rd City Council Meeting where Mayor Miller read aloud each of their names and/or places of business.  After receiving their Commendations, the Council joined the Sponsors to take the above picture.  Without the individual and continued support from the Concert Sponsors, Concerts in the Park would not be able to take place every summer.  So, thank you again to all of our Concert Sponsors!  We are excited for a great 2013 Summer Concert Series this year!

Adding to the fun atmosphere the Concerts bring to the Community Park will be the Brisbane Farmers' Market - coinciding with the Concerts this year and taking place on Fridays, rather than their usual Thursdays.  Once the Concerts conclude on August 30th, the market will return to taking place on Thursdays.  At yesterday's farmers' market, some Brisbane youth got a mini taste of what the Concerts will be like from Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist, Composer, Entertainer Fred McCarty.  He did a great job entertaining those shopping the market, and even took requests.  He will most likely be back at the market next week.  Check out the 4 CDs he's recorded of his original songs!

PG&E Helicopter Patrols

Printer-friendly version

PG&E will be performing helicopter patrols in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties today as part of their routine compliance inspections (weather dependent).  The helicopter will fly about 200’ to 500’ above ground level and will be traveling over portions of the City of Brisbane to check the integrity of their transmission pipelines.

In PG&E’s efforts to achieve the safest gas pipeline system, they conduct these surveys monthly, more frequently than required by federal standards.  In addition, they also conduct aerial leak survey patrols every other month.  Some months two different types of helicopter patrols are done.

2013 Wildfire Awareness Event

Printer-friendly version

North County Fire Authority (NCFA) and the Brisbane Office of Emergency Services will conduct the annual Community Wildfire Awareness Event on Saturday, June 8th beginning at 9:00am and concluding at around 12 noon.

Community outreach and important information will be provided to those residents living on Margaret & Paul Avenues and Kings Road (from the 100 block through the 300 block).  Those residents should expect a knock on their door, as firefighters will be delivering information to these homes which are adjacent to a Wildland Urban Interface area.  Finally, please be mindful that there will be emergency equipment and fire personnel operating in town, including the possibility of a CAL FIRE helicopter, so assist us in spreading the news about this activity by discussing with your neighbors so that no one will be unintentionally frightened by this wildfire awareness event.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Brisbane Office of Emergency Services at (415) 508-2131 or the NCFA Fire Prevention Services Bureau at (650) 991-8138.
