The City Council has issued a Proclamation proclaiming April 5, 2016 as National Service Recognition Day, encouraging residents to recognize the powerful impact of national service in our country, thank those who serve, and to find ways to give back to their community.  Click on the Proclamation below to view it larger (you may need to rotate it clockwise).

Election Officer Recruitment

The San Mateo County Registrations & Elections Division needs your help!  They're looking for some energetic and qualified people to fill some important jobs for the June 7, 2016 California Presidential Primary Election.  This is a unique opportunity to be a part of democracy in action while making a difference in your community. 

Each election the County must recruit and train 1,600 Election Officers to staff 350 precincts across the county.

In order to serve as an Election Officer the person must be:

  • A registered voter in the State of California or Permanent Resident of the United States
  • Able to speak, read and write English
  • Able to work from 6:00 a.m. to approximately 9:30 p.m. on Election Day

The benefits of serving are numerous:

  • Stipend: $115 for Judges, $140 for inspectors
  • Training Class: You will receive $25 for attending training
  • Travel Reimbursement: $8 is offered to those who serve in a precinct outside of their home city
  • Pride in serving the community

Lifeguard Certification Training

This course, based on the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Program, will certify students in Lifeguarding, CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid.  Students must be at least 15 years of age by the last day of class and pass a prerequisite test (swim 300 yards continuously, tread water for 2 minutes with no hands, retrieve a 10 pound brick from 8 feet and return it to designated spot). Attendance at every class is required.
