Did you know that there is a Caltrain "Bayshore/Brisbane Senior Shuttle" that can start only in the Bayshore/Brisbane area? This shuttle is funded by SamTrans and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority with the co-operation of Daly City, Brisbane, BAAQMD and CCAG. And if you're not a Senior, don't worry, you're not required to be over a certain age to ride this shuttle, nor do you need a shuttle pass (those are only necessary for the Commute.org-operated shuttles).
On Monday and Friday the Caltrain shuttle may be booked to Serramonte shopping center or any stop along the way.
On Tuesday and Thursday the shuttle may be booked to Tanforan or any stop along the way.
To book your next trip, please call (415) 740-9458 to speak directly to the driver (the shuttle will circle on the route until it gets a phone call booking a trip.

A new face can be seen in and around City Hall these days - Noreen Leek has been hired as the City's new Recreation Manager in the Parks and Recreation Department. Noreen comes to us from the City of Menlo Park, where she worked eight years in the city's Community Services Department; first as a Recreation Coordinator, then as a Recreation Supervisor, and ultimately, a Recreation Manager. Her responsibilities included: production of their Activity Guide (a whopping 72 pages!) and other marketing materials, overseeing the Recreation Center and its operations, and leading special events and the city's gymnastics programs.
She will be interfacing in large part with the Parks and Recreation Commission, overseeing special events such as the Day in the Park Community Festival (also, SAVE THE DATE for another Hydrant Re-painting & Restoration Weekend, happening Oct. 10 & 11), managing production of the Activity Guide, and supervising the department, which is led by Administrative Services Director, Stuart Schillinger.
"I am grateful to have the honor of serving as the new Recreation Manager and to become part of the Brisbane community," said Noreen, and "I look forward to encouraging collaborative partnerships with the local business community and expanding recreation for the city as a whole."
If you'd like to contact Noreen, you can do so at (415) 508-2141 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Or, stop by and say "hello" in person; her door is always open!

City’s Baylands Survey
Complete and Return by 9/12
The City has consistently sought the community’s input in the Baylands planning process and we are asking for your assistance once again. On or about August 25, 2015 a survey to gauge community opinions and attitudes on a number of issues pertaining to the Baylands will be mailed to all registered voters in Brisbane. Please watch your mail for a survey packet from "Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin and Metz", the independent firm hired by the City to prepare and administer the survey. The deadline to complete and return the survey is September 12, 2015. All responses must be postmarked by that date.
With Planning Commission hearings on the Baylands scheduled to start in September and extend into November, the survey results will be an important factor in the City’s decision-making process for the Baylands.
Make your voice heard - the City values your opinion! Thanks for your interest and participation.
To encourage safer and more efficient morning drop offs of children at Brisbane Elementary School (BES), the school in cooperation with Brisbane Police and Public Works, have this past week implemented a new drop-off system on San Bruno Avenue in time for the first day of school this past Thursday. Note: The drop-off time begins at 8:05am (the time the school starts having a staff person on the playground to supervise students in the morning).
The white-curbed drop-off lane/queue extends from San Bruno Ave at Santa Clara St to the red curb at the fire hydrant just before Glen Park Way, (see the above map). The drop off lane is further identified with orange delineators in the street. The designated “Student Unloading Zone” is between the driveway and the red curb north of (downhill from) Glen Parkway. Signs indicate the unloading area. A queuing/waiting zone is located downhill from the BES driveway to Santa Clara St. Please wait until you arrive at the “Student Unloading Zone” to let your children off; do not let them off in the waiting zone.
For smoother traffic flow around the area, please approach the drop off lane/queue driving uphill/traveling south on San Bruno Ave. Please note that mid-block U-turns are not allowed. U-turns are only legal at intersections unless otherwise indicated by a “No U-turn” sign. If you live further up the mountain behind the school, please access San Bruno Ave from a northerly/lower street. When you arrive at the entrance of the drop-off lane, enter on the right side of the delineators and wait in line. Then, once you reach the designated “Student Unloading Zone”, you may let your children out safely on the curbside.
If you wish to walk your children in, please park elsewhere and walk them in safely using sidewalks and pedestrian crossings. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
Thank you for cooperating with this new system in order to ensure smoother flow when dropping off your children on busy weekday mornings, and be safe this new school year!
The Community Center has been getting a facelift over the past couple of weeks with the installation of wainscot panels along the lower portion of the walls. This was needed to address the scuff marks on the walls left from the backs of chairs and the room's general heavy usage. A new chair rail was originally considered, but wainscoting was determined to be a great solution for covering up all of the imperfections along the lower section of the walls. Though considered a smaller project in terms of cost (the City Council funded this project with adoption of the 2015-16 budget), its impact is one that is more noticed, as the Community Center is widely used by many members of the community, including the Library, Seniors, Brisbane Dance Workshop, and other community clubs and organziations. We hope you enjoy the Community Center's new look with the traditional style of wainscoting!
