The Open Space and Ecology Committee is endeavoring to provide to the community one climate fact each week. These facts are to call community awareness to global warming impacts as a measure of the Climate Action Plan of the City of Brisbane.

Work is steadily progressing at the skatepark site with the arrival of Spohn Ranch last Friday. In the below pictures, Spohn Ranch workers can be seen putting in (1) base rock and (2) geogrid for subgrade improvement. As a reminder, the construction for the new skatepark is estimated to last approximately 3 mos., so the new skatepark is scheduled to be open to the public in mid-June. Stay tuned for more construction updates!
The City Council has issued a Proclamation proclaiming April 5, 2016 as National Service Recognition Day, encouraging residents to recognize the powerful impact of national service in our country, thank those who serve, and to find ways to give back to their community. Every year the Brisbane Lions club awards around $30,000 to help our college and university students. The 2016 application is available at http://tiny.cc/brisbanescholars.

The San Mateo County Registrations & Elections Division needs your help! They're looking for some energetic and qualified people to fill some important jobs for the June 7, 2016 California Presidential Primary Election. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of democracy in action while making a difference in your community.
Each election the County must recruit and train 1,600 Election Officers to staff 350 precincts across the county.
In order to serve as an Election Officer the person must be:
- A registered voter in the State of California or Permanent Resident of the United States
- Able to speak, read and write English
- Able to work from 6:00 a.m. to approximately 9:30 p.m. on Election Day
The benefits of serving are numerous:
- Stipend: $115 for Judges, $140 for inspectors
- Training Class: You will receive $25 for attending training
- Travel Reimbursement: $8 is offered to those who serve in a precinct outside of their home city
- Pride in serving the community
