PG&E Helicopter Patrols

Printer-friendly version

PG&E will be performing helicopter patrols in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties today as part of their routine compliance inspections (weather dependent).  The helicopter will fly about 200’ to 500’ above ground level and will be traveling over portions of the City of Brisbane to check the integrity of their transmission pipelines.

In PG&E’s efforts to achieve the safest gas pipeline system, they conduct these surveys monthly, more frequently than required by federal standards.  In addition, they also conduct aerial leak survey patrols every other month.  Some months two different types of helicopter patrols are done.

2013 Wildfire Awareness Event

Printer-friendly version

North County Fire Authority (NCFA) and the Brisbane Office of Emergency Services will conduct the annual Community Wildfire Awareness Event on Saturday, June 8th beginning at 9:00am and concluding at around 12 noon.

Community outreach and important information will be provided to those residents living on Margaret & Paul Avenues and Kings Road (from the 100 block through the 300 block).  Those residents should expect a knock on their door, as firefighters will be delivering information to these homes which are adjacent to a Wildland Urban Interface area.  Finally, please be mindful that there will be emergency equipment and fire personnel operating in town, including the possibility of a CAL FIRE helicopter, so assist us in spreading the news about this activity by discussing with your neighbors so that no one will be unintentionally frightened by this wildfire awareness event.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Brisbane Office of Emergency Services at (415) 508-2131 or the NCFA Fire Prevention Services Bureau at (650) 991-8138.

San Francisco Bay Ferry

Printer-friendly version

San Francisco Bay Ferry, a service of the Water Emergency Transporation Authority (WETA), serves communities throughout the Bay Area with ferry terminals in the cities of South San Francisco, San Francisco, Alameda, Oakland, and Vallejo.  Their vessel network provides a unique transit option to destinations such as San Francisco's AT&T Park, Angel Island State Park, the San Francisco Ferry Building, San Francisco's Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf area, Alameda Harbor Bay, Alameda Main Street, Oakland's Jack London Square, South San Francisco/Oyster Point, and the City of Vallejo (with connecting bus service to the Napa Valley Wine Train).

A two-day-a-week mid-day service was recently added to provide transportation to some of San Francisco’s most desirable waterfront destinations, including the Ferry Building, the new Exploratorium, Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf, and the historic streetcar line that runs along the Embarcadero. This limited, pilot service will serve the influx of travelers and visitors during the peak tourism season, in addition to South San Francisco residents and school groups who want to take advantage of a mid-week outing to the City – without the hassle of parking and traffic.

The fare is just $5.00 through August 30th, and children under 5 ride for free!

PG&E Rate Case 2014-16

Printer-friendly version

At Monday evening’s City Council Meeting, under Mayor and Council Matters, Mayor Pro Tem Conway brought up PG&E’s General Rate Case 2014 – 2016.  With this rate case, PG&E is requesting funding for new investments and improved operations to achieve significant gains in the safety and reliability of its electric generation, and electric and gas distribution services, during the years 2014-2016.

PG&E is asking the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) for an increase in funding of $1.28 billion in 2014 over currently authorized levels.  PG&E asks for additional increases of about $500 million in 2015 and 2016 to account for additional infrastructure improvements, and increased costs of labor, materials, supplies and other expenses.  This equates to about an increase of $12/month on average for a residential home bill.  This possible increase will be tied in with distribution charges on your, so the more energy you use, the higher the rate increase.  Click here for more information.

Prior to voting on this rate case in the Fall, the CPUC is holding the first of 10 public hearings tonight at 7pm in San Bruno at the War Memorial Building (251 City Park Way, San Bruno).  There will be two public hearings in San Francisco tomorrow at 2pm and 7pm at the CPUC Courtroom (505 Van Ness Ave., SF).  The rest of the public hearings take place in the following locations:
