Brisbane Resident Since 2003
On 1/27 at approximately 9:47pm, a resident on the unit block of Butterweed heard her door bell ring, which she elected not to answer. A few moments later, she heard the sound of someone attempting to turn the doorknob followed by glass breaking coming from her garage. The resident called 911 and the Brisbane Police arrived in less than 3 minutes.
Officers located and arrested a subject hiding in a vehicle outside the residence. It is believed that a second suspect fled the scene on foot prior to our arrival.
The suspect did not gain entry into the home and was not located after a perimeter search with K-9's from Daly City and South San Francisco Police.
On 1/28 at 1:00 am, while officers were investigating the above mentioned incident, we received a call from a resident on Rock Wren. The resident had just arrived home and found his home had been burglarized. The same MO was used as the side window of the garage was smashed.
The resident told police he had seen a suspicious unoccupied vehicle in the area earlier in the day at approximately 1:00 pm. The resident also stated the vehicle was still in the area at 5:00 pm but this time there was a male subject sleeping inside of the vehicle. The description of the vehicle matched the vehicle from the earlier arrest. This case is currently under investigation.
We would like to add that you are the eyes and ears of our community and we strongly recommend residents call the police as soon as possible when suspicious activity is seen or heard. This may include unfamiliar vehicles or people in your neighborhood and the sound of shattering glass or car alarms sounding.
Again, any time you see or hear something suspicious or out of the ordinary in your neighborhood, please call us at (415) 467-1212. Thank you.
This past Sunday, the City Council met for a Special Goal-Setting Workshop at the DoubleTree Hotel in Brisbane. They were joined by the City’s management staff as well as several members of the public. After lunch, the Council received an overview of “Priority-Based Budgeting” from the City Manager, the new format going forward for the budget that the Council’s Fiscal and Administrative Policies Subcommittee began reviewing earlier this year. Our Administrative Services Director has developed an interactive fiscal model to assist in identifying long-term trends, in addition to the impacts of spending commitments in regards to future budgets. That model was shown to the Council using various assumptions. The Council then took the rest of the time to review their current Community Oriented Goals and re-worked them to the following proposed Community Goals/Results (not in any particular order): Fiscally Prudent, Safe Community, Community Building, Ecological Sustainability, and Economic Development. At their meeting of February 4th, the Council will set a date to follow-up with last Sunday’s Goal-Setting Workshop. The next step in the Priority Based Budgeting process is for the Council to develop performance measures for each program. These performance measures will assess how we are doing in meeting the Community’s Goals.
