101 SB Ramp Metering

Printer-friendly version

Back in November, we informed you about Caltrans' US 101 San Mateo County Ramp Metering Project between Hwy 92 and the San Mateo County/San Francisco County line to improve safety and travel times during peak periods of heavy traffic.  Starting tomorrow, Tuesday May 5, ramp meters will start cycling (or metering) during Southbound PM peak time from 2:30pm to 8:00pm.  The following Tuesday, May 12, ramp meters will start cycling during Southbound AM peak time from 6:00am to 10:00am.

Most ramps, like the ones at Beatty Ave., Lagoon Rd. and Airport/Bayshore Blvd. will operate at “1 car per green” except for one connector ramp which will operate at “2 cars per green”.  This connect ramp is the Hwy 92 to Southbound US 101 Connector.

For more information, including fact sheets and FAQs, please view Caltrans’ webpage on the San Mateo County Ramp Metering Project.  They’ve also set up a hotline to receive any feedback from the public.  That number is (510) 286-4531.

Thinking about installing solar on your home but don’t know where to start or think it’s just too expensive?  Peninsula SunShares is here to help!

This spring the City of Brisbane is partnering with local nonprofit Vote Solar and neighboring communities throughout San Mateo County to launch a solar group discount program for homeowners.

The Peninsula SunShares program uses a tiered-pricing structure, City-supported education and outreach and a competitively selected installer to dramatically reduce the cost of solar.  Here’s how it works:

1. Community-sponsored program.  The City of Brisbane wants to make it easy for residents to see if their home is right for solar.  Sign up to schedule a no-obligation site visit.

2. Below-market pricing.  Get your discounted solar installation price quote from the programs pre-selected solar installer.

3. Limited time.  Sign a contract by July 31st to have your new solar panels installed and save on your monthly electric bill for years to come.  Registration opened April 1st.

4. Help spread the word!  More participants means a better deal for you and more solar power for the Bay Area.

On Saturday, May 9th, the City will be hosting a community workshop Peninsula SunShares program administrator Vote Solar.  It is open to the public.  Come to the Community Center (250 Visitacion Ave., Brisbane) from 1:00-3:00pm to learn more about the program!  (There will even be time to do remote site evaluations with attendees and schedule appointments).  Click here for the event flyer.

For more information or to register please visit: www.mygroupenergy.com/peninsula

If you're interested in building your own solar car, stick around after the workshop as the Brisbane Library will be hosting a workshop to do just that with Zetta Tech!  The fun starts at 4pm upstairs in the Library.

Citizens are encouraged to fill out this important survey.  This is a quick and short survey in which SamTrans is seeking input from their riders - they need to know how the recent service changes affect their travel needs.  Input is sought from riders on all Routes including Route 292, shown above.

Your assistance will be very much appreciated.  Deadline for this survey is this Sunday, April 26, 2015.

"Silver Dragon" Exercise

Printer-friendly version

Brisbane Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), assisted by Pacifica and Daly City CERT personnel, will participate in the San Mateo County Health Department’s “Silver Dragon” exercise on April 23, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon, to simulate the mass delivery of medicine and medical supplies to homes in Brisbane following a mass public health-related emergency.  Participation in the countywide exercise will assess readiness to provide timely medical assistance in the event of a major health emergency such as pandemic influenza, a food or water-borne illness, or the intentional release of a bio-agent.

This is the 9th year the exercise has been conducted in San Mateo County to test the Health System's ability to partner with local cities, law enforcement, fire departments, the American Red Cross and CERT teams for a simulated mass delivery of medicine from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Strategic National Stockpile,.  Validation of door-to-door distribution capabilities of medication during an actual health emergency will be accomplished by CERT teams distributing re-usable, eco-friendly shopping bags packed with educational information to approximately 1/3 of Brisbane residences.
