It's like dialing 4-1-1, but specific to the needs of San Mateo County residents.  Do you know who to call with questions about Medicare, MediCal or Medicaid? Rent Assistance? Home-delivered meals or if a loved one, friend or neighbor needs help? As of right now, just dial 2-1-1 from any phone - including cell phones - and a live person will help you with information and referrals to local community services, such as food, shelter, counseling, employment assistance, quality child care, volunteer opportunities and more. The service, provided through a partnership between the Contra Costa Crisis Center, Eden I&R, and United Way is free, confidential and available 24 hours a day in 150 languages.  There is a also a website specific to San Mateo County - all 9 Bay Area counties now have access  to 2-1-1.  Nationally, 2-1-1 is available to more than 245 million people in 47 states, plus Washington D.C and Puerto Rico.
