Performance Measures

Printer-friendly version

In June of 2010, the City was awarded a grant from the National Center for Civic Innovation for its participation in the Government Trailblazer Program.  This program involved approximately 40 other government entities in the U.S. and Canada.  Each agency had been selected to be a Trailblazer for aspiring to engage the public in the development of its performance measures and reports, as well as furthering its efforts to improve government performance, communication, and mutual understanding between the public and government.

To help form a baseline for its performance measurement system, a city-wide survey was conducted in January 2011 around the values outlined by City Council (Public Safety, Involved, Informed, Environmentally Progressive, and Caring).  Prior to the survey being mailed to a randomly selected group of households (staff used the Water and Sewer database and selected every third household), the Community Survey Subcommittee reviewed the performance measure indicators for each value and determined what constituted a red, yellow, or green light.  Take a look below at how the community thought we did in 2010.

With each new survey iteration, it is our expectation that those yellows and reds will become greens the following year!
