We’re looking for local photographers interested in being a part of the 50th anniversary history book. Brisbane residents are asked to submit their best photo that shows the City of Brisbane with the famous stars shown throughout our city on homes and businesses. Photos for the cover of the book will be accepted at City Hall now until the deadline of January 8, 2014 (8:00pm). Contest winner will receive a $500 reward.
Contest Rules: You must be a Brisbane resident to enter. Each contestant may enter 3 - 5 photos. Special permission to use a photo for City of Brisbane publication and marketing will be asked for once the photo is chosen. All photos remain the property of the artist. All photos submitted must be a 300 dpi (high resolution) at 8.75" x 11.25" digital photo file. JPEGs are preferred and should not be heavily compressed. TIFF format is also acceptable. Photos sent by e-mail must be a 72 dpi less than .5 MB image (but available at the larger size stated above) and sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org or drop off or send in your entry with your name, address, phone and e-mail address to:

The City Council Meeting and Reorganization will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in the Brisbane Community Room, 50 Park Place.
All are invited to say thank you to outgoing Mayor Miller, Congratulate newly re-elected Councilmembers Clarke Conway & Cliff Lentz, and to Welcome Newly Elected Councilmember Lori Liu. The New Council will also choose their next Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem.
Refreshments will be served immediately following the ceremonies.
The Brisbane City Council has extended the deadline to provide written comments on the Brisbane Baylands Draft Environmental Impact Report (Draft EIR) from November 22, 2013 to January 24, 2014. Comments must be received no later than Friday at 1:00 p.m. when City Hall closes.

Annual Winter Clean-Up - November 16 and 17th
The Annual Winter Clean-Up is scheduled for this weekend, November 16 and 17th. This is the time to clear your property of fallen leaves and branches which could find their way into one of the City’s storm drains and cause flooding during the rainy season.
Dumpsters will be placed throughout town for residents to dispose of their yard waste.
Please place your yard trimmings and branches (less than 4 inches in diameter and NOT within plastic garbage bags) into the nearest-located dumpster. A map of the dumpster locations is available at http://goo.gl/maps/JM9hT
If you need assistance, we will have limited staff available to transport your yard waste to one of the dumpsters. For assistance, please call (415) 508-2146 during the following times:
Saturday, November 16: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Sunday, November 17: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Please remember that this is for YARD WASTE ONLY (leaves, branches, grass). NO GARBAGE OR OTHER WASTE is to be disposed of in these dumpsters. Doing so will make the entire load unrecyclable.
As a reminder, do not attempt to trim tree branches that are touching or near PG&E power lines. Call PG&E if you have any questions or concerns at (800) 743-5000. If you have other questions regarding tree removal in general, see the Tree Removal Permit page on our website or call 508-2115.
Thank you in advance for your willingness and cooperation in this City-wide effort. If we all pitch in to clean up our properties from yard trimmings and fallen leaves, we can prevent future problems from occurring during the winter rains.

The City of Brisbane, along with all other cities in San Mateo County, contracts with the County of San Mateo Elections Office. The County counts and posts the election results. The County has, by State law, up to 28 days to certify the election results. The official results will be adopted by the Brisbane City Council on Monday, December 2, 2013.
There are absentee and provisional ballots that were turned in at the polls that still need to be counted and included in the above totals. During the next few weeks the County will be updating the absentee numbers on their website. So the absentee numbers shown above will adjust slightly.

SamTrans will hold a series of public meetings over the next two months to gather comments and discuss a study that will consider the possibility of Bus Rapid Transit service on El Camino Real.
Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is an enhanced bus service that typically offers faster speeds, shorter travel times and improved customer amenities.
Generally, BRT can be implemented in two ways based on level of investment: Rapid and full BRT. Rapid bus service is mixed in with regular automobile traffic, but it travels farther between stops than local routes and features enhanced stations and skip-service.
Full BRT incorporates dedicated bus lanes and higher degrees of station enhancements. It requires a more significant capital investment than rapid service.
SamTrans is conducting an in-depth study of the potential options for BRT service along El Camino Real from Daly City to the Palo Alto Transit Center. The purpose of the study is to develop a phasing plan that will identify how existing bus operations in the corridor may be enhanced to incorporate Rapid- and BRT-type amenities over time, reflecting population and employment densities and ridership demand.
A major goal of the study is to identify enhancements in the short-term and long-term that could improve the passenger experience for existing riders and attract new riders. Other goals of the study include promoting livability and commercial viability while maintaining cost effective operations and minimizing traffic and parking impacts.
The study will also assess long-term improvements, such as the feasibility of dedicated bus lanes and enhanced stations with added passenger amenities. SamTrans will then develop short- and long-term plans for implementing these changes.
SamTrans staff will be providing an information presentation on the study at local council meetings. Public workshops are also being offered. The schedule includes:
