Election Day this year is Tuesday, November 4th.  The Brisbane Community Center is our only polling location.  The Community Center is located in the lower level of the building at 250 Vistacion Avenue (directly below the Brisbane Library).  Absentee ballots may be placed in the ballot box located in the lobby area of City Hall until 5:00pm on Election Day.  But if you're going to wait that long, you might as well stop by the Community Center to cast your ballot in-person, where the polls will be open from 7:00am until 8:00pm on Election Day.

Repairs at Mission Blue Center

Printer-friendly version

Constructed in 2000, Mission Blue Center has had various minor repairs over the last 14 years.  Repair work is now needed for the entryway steps at Mission Blue Drive, which is is scheduled to begin on the morning of Monday, October 20, 2014.

The repair work will be a 3-part process.  The first part consists of removal of the existing damaged stairway caps, followed by forming for concrete and rebar and pouring the concrete.  Concrete is needed because the existing caps were simply mortared on top as separate pieces, and cracks formed between the slabs.  This part of the repair process is planned to take approximately one week.  The second part of the repair work involves applying the stucco coat.  The final step will be priming and painting.  Thank you for your patience as this work is being completed and we ask the public to avoid using this stairway during the course of its repair.  If you have any questions about this project, please call the Public Works Dept. at 508-2130.

New Bayshore U-Turn Light

Printer-friendly version

You may have noticed that KWW Cabinents on Bayshore Blvd. is near completion; it was a design-build that started construction last year.  To access the business going northbound on Bayshore, one will need to first make a U-turn at the traffic signal approximately a 1/2 block up Bayshore.  This was a requirement of the new development and work by the developer’s contractor to install 1. two medians (one on the north leg and one in the south leg of the intersection), 2. U-turn lane and 3. necessary traffic signal improvements at the intersection is expected to start next week.  Estimated construction time is 3 weeks, with only one lane in each directions allowed to be closed at a time, and only between 9am - 4pm to minimize inconveniences to the public.  Thank you in advance for your patience and driving safely through the construction area.

Road Work 10/6-10/15

Printer-friendly version

Due to the discovery of a damaged sewer line, a contractual obligation to complete a road resurfacing project on schedule, and the imminent need to repair anomalies in PG&E gas service lines, several of Brisbane’s streets will experience traffic impacts in the next two weeks, beginning Monday, October 6th.

The areas shown below in red indicate where the roadway will be closed from 8 AM - 5 PM, followed by the closure dates (click to enlarge).  “No Parking” notices have already been posted as required for much of the work, and will continue to be posted 72 hours in advance of construction. The areas marked in green will have a single lane of traffic controlled by flaggers - please expect delays and plan your trips accordingly.

Paving work will commence on Monday the 6th, beginning with Tulare St.  Striping work will be scheduled after the asphalt paving portion of the work has cured.  This project is scheduled to be completed on October 24th.  Again, “No Parking” signs will be posted 72 hours in advance of any work that affects parking, as well as “Road Closed” signs where needed, with emergency access being maintained at all times.

PG&E’s utilization of the latest technology for compliance distribution pipeline survey has identified locations to repair.  Those repair locations have been indicated on the map above.  PG&E crews will be working at these locations over the next few weeks.  Expect minor delays.  For a visual on how PG&E is utilizing the technology, please click here.

If you have any questions regarding any of these projects, please contact the Public Works Department at (415) 508-2130.  Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation as these projects are completed.

Skatepark Project Update

Printer-friendly version

The Skatepark project will be discussed at next Thursday's City Council meeting of October 16, 2014.  The staff report outlines how the Facilities Subcommittee will be making the recommendation to the full Council for the skatepark to remain at its current site across from the Community Park and next to the basketball courts.  Should the Council concur with the Subcommittee's recommendation, the consultant Spohn Ranch will continue to work with the stakeholders and move forward with development of a conceptual design.  They have recently set up a Facebook Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/brisbaneskatepark/) to keep the community apprised of the latest project developments.

If you would like to support the Skatepark Project, Brisbane resident Michael Barnes and users of the skatepark are selling silk-screened Brisbane tee-shirts for $15.  So far, their efforts have raised $2,600.  They will be at the Sunday Farmers' Market from 9am - 1pm if you'd like to pick one up.  For any questions or custom orders, please contact Michael at mgb5@mindspring.com .
