Get Free Food from SHFB

Everyone should have access to the nutritious foods they need to live a healthy, productive life.  Second Harvest Food Bank (SHFB) has a variety of services that you can learn more by calling their Food Connection Hotline: 1-800-984-3663 Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm

This hotline connects people in need with food programs in their neighborhood.  Staff members speak English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Services include:

  • CalFresh (Food Stamps) - an EBT card to buy food
  • Family Harvest - groceries for families with children under 18
  • Produce Mobile - fruits/vegetables for anyone in need
  • Pantries - groceries for anyone in need
  • Kids N.O.W. - free food for children to take home on weekends and over school vacations
  • Brown Bag - groceries for people over 60 and disabled people 55+
  • Partners in Need (PIN) - groceries for Food Bank volunteers
  • WIC - nutrition education and food for pregnant women, infants, and young children (call 1-888-942-9675 directly)

SHFB also has a very useful "Nutrition" section on their website, which includes useful information on label dates.

Baylands DEIR Comments

The Community Development Department accepted comments on the Baylands Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for 228 days, from June 11, 2013 to January 24, 2014.  Comments received on the Baylands DEIR are now available for review online via the Baylands DEIR Comments page.  The comments can also be viewed at the Community Development Department at City Hall (50 Park Place, Brisbane).

Urban Land Institute in Brisbane

The Urban Land Institute (ULI), through its Advisory Services program, provides Technical Assistance Panels, or TAPs, to address land use challenges that require local knowledge to resolve.  Together with community stakeholders, the TAP focused on Crocker Industrial Park, including viable design options and implementation objectives.  Click here to be taken to the City's YouTube channel where you can view the TAP's presentation from this past Wednesday and other public meetings, or simply click Play below.  It will also be played back on Ch. 27 tomorrow at 10:00am and Sunday at 6:00pm.

SamTrans Service Changes

Following adoption of the Samtrans Service Plan in May 2013, staff at Samtrans began working on implementing the service changes.  The following changes to the routes that service Brisbane go into effect on Sunday, January 26th:

Route 24 (high school route) – Trip times will be adjusted to improve on-time performance.  Departure from Old County/San Francisco is scheduled 2 minutes earlier

Route 29 (Lipman route) – Trip times will be adjusted to improve on-time performance.  Timing slightly adjusted a minute earlier at certain points

Route 292 (Downtown SF to San Mateo) – Only change is that it will no longer service B street in San Mateo.  Will continue straight down Delaware instead.  Trip times will be adjusted appropriately.

Route 397 (night owl service) - Trip times will be adjusted to improve on-time performance.  Timing slightly adjusted a minute earlier at certain points.

Also, Samtrans will changing out their old bus stop signs with ones that look like this, which incorporates a unique bus stop identification number for each stop, allowing riders to get real-time bus departure information from 511 and
